Clear deep red color, small white (reddish) head. Aroma is sour milk with hints of cherry. Light but harsh kriek. Very unbalanced cherry-flavoured beer. Sour in unbalanced way, not my cup ot tea.

Golden to amber color. Some malty aroma and flavor, with a corky impression, anyway a good Strong Belgian Ale, and it aged quite well.

[Sampled at Stockholm Beer Festival 2005 - old bottle] A hazy orange beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is very yeasty and slightly acidic - it bears notes of being old. The flavor is malty with notes of roasted malt, and lots of yeast, combined with a dusty straw note, and again signs of being over the top. I believe this has been a great beer.

"Oud Hergist Zottegems"
Hazy orangy, small firm off-white creamy head. Nose has hops, leather, yeast and is a bit earthy. Carbonated, medium-bodied. Malty with citric acidity with softening yeast and grassy hops. Dry, sweetish aftertaste.

(Botle 33 cl) Beautifully amber coloured beer with a pretty, tall and very dense head which unfortunately does collaps. Very full-bodied and malty - almost reminiscent of an abbey dubbel. Refined hoppy finish. Comes rather close to the same brewery’s "Oud Zottegems". 110798

(Bottle 33 cl) This original version from Crombe. Reddish brown with a head that comes close to being pink. A bit flat, lovely cherry flavours but very, very sour in a not so enticing way. No real treasure. 150698

(Bottle 75 cl) Amber coloured with a huge, frothy head. Appears clear in the beginning but contains a huge sediment that eventually hazes the beer. Very grainy and a bit fusty. A slightly sour edge that feels a bit unpleasant to start with, but eventually turns rather quenching. Pronounced hoppiness in the finish. 270398

(Bottle 33 cl) This is the original version from "Brij Crombé" in Zottegem. Beautifuly golden with a pretty decent head. Some caramel-like notes, yet rather dry, light-bodied and pleasantly refreshing. An imperial beer indeed... 230297

(Bottle 33 cl) Original version from "Brouwery Crombe" (yes, it’s actually spelled that way!) For some reason I had expected a pale Tripel, but instead I get a deep golden, bittersweet beer. Very full-bodied and potent with lots of nice malts. Nice if not really exceptional. 030296
