Kyoto Nude Brewwery Hokaze Session IPA 4.5% IBU 15 Matte gold, off-white soapy foam and a tutti-frutti, citrus and herbal hop bouquet. Light bodied, crisp, clean and dry. This is a really solid session IPA. It’s light bodied but not watery and has a decent depth of flavor which can be rare with the style. 500¥ for 200ml at the Uji Craft Beer fest is good value. I’ve tried 4 beers for 2100¥, even at CBM that usually just gets me 3 beers these days…

very light golden color. Lemon creampie and citrus notes over a slightly funky yeasty nose. Very light, very bitter, big yeast and wheat notes. Very drinkable but not amazing depth or balance.

Asanagi IPA 7.2% 13 IBU Matte gold with dense off-white foam and a bitter citrus rind hop aroma. Medium bodied and very clean. The taste is pretty much a spot on a modern take on a west coast ipa. Good stuff though I hadn’t tried them before as they’re kind of pricey. Tap at CBL 2024.

0,3l on tap @ Craft House Kyoto. Pours cloudy deep brown with a low head. Aroma is lightly toasted malts. Flavor is lightly toasted malts with some coffee, some hops. Good.

Tap at Takanoya. Resiny nose with citrus (grapefruit and lemon) and honey malts. Bright orange, slightly hazy. Sweet honey and citrus flavor, resiny, bright and crisp, some of the vanilla-lemon notes reminiscent of Sorachi Ace in the finish.

Tap at Komachi. Pale Gold, clear. Tart nose, yuzu and lactic acid, a tinge of chili. Tart, sharp, yuzu is bold, spicy pepper is thankfully in the background, and spicy rather than vegetal. Light and crisp. Decent but more for summer than winter.
