Bottle, 72cl. A clear, pale golden beer topped by a small, white head. Weak nose with fruityness and some pale malts. The flavor has some bitterness, along with fruityness and pale malts. Thin on the palate, soft carbonation. Some bitterness in the very end, but it’s mostly fruity. Some quenching qualities in this one, but mostly it’s just super boring. 120817

The DR Congo’s premier beer, and an all-around average affair. Some sourness in the aftertaste, lots of grains in the flavour. Often served very, very cold in Kinshasa, which makes it hard to tell if it’s intended to have any real flavour.

Dark brown, strong and taste seemed chocolaty to me. Marketed as "an affair for men" or something like that. Decent dark beer but lacking complexity.

Test vom 29.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,7,7,6,6,7 - 6,90

Hefig-muffiger, unappetitlicher Geruch, etwas getreidig. Wässriger, leicht getreidiger Antrunk, muffig, leicht malzig werdend. Wässriger, metallern-getreidiger Abgang mit herbem Touch. Minimale Fruchtigkeit. Test vom 26.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 6,6,7,5,5,5 - 5,55

Huge, light brown coloured head, collapsing over chestnut coloured beer. Quite sweet nose, brown sugar loaded, bit of wood. Sweet wood. Bit woody-sugary taste as well, if not very outspoken, not cloying - maybe because of a sourish taste that seems linked to the CO² content. Ends woody-metallic, drier. Warming up, more sweetness again, near cloying, banana ester. Main problem: unbalance between the different impressions. Medium bodied, seems like "false" filling, ending quite dry. Strangy, unconvincing beer. I am flabbergasted as to the mode of fermentation... brown ale, or Dunkel?
