Brewery draught, 11/26/23. Clear dark amber. Large, fluffy, snow white head. Good mineral and crisp lager yeast. Minimal toast, light cracker and hints of chocolate. Clean. Crisp, dry, lightly toasty. Bit of licorice and roast. A bit darker and less sumptuously malty than I'd prefer but clean and snappy. Low hops.

Undated 12oz can drunk 10/15/23. Got this from the cooler, and I thought it was new, but from the smell/taste, it sure doesn't seem so. But I've got no sympathy for brewers who don't date their hoppy beers, despite how much I love OBP. Nose is all strong ester, light alcohol, mild greenery from faded hop. Cracker and biscuit malt. Really nice malt texture, great attenuation and some juicy pineapple, but it tastes like a shot of vodka on the finish. Heavy, heavy ester. Very little hop. Love the texture, but we've moved in to Barleywine territory at this point in the beer's career.

Can drunk 8/12/23. Clear blonde. Small, white head. Lovely, assertive, spicy hops and dainty honey-like malts. Clean, crisp. Hoppy, malty, clean, big mineral, yeast, spicy, herbal hops. Good attenuation. Good balance of malt and hop.

Bayberry draught, 8/12/23. Clear, lemon-golden. Medium-sized, white head, slowly fades to cover. Tons of mineral, very woody, though not sharp or scratchy. Bright herbal finish, clean, hints of cracker and honey from the malt. Soft, malty, dry, woody, light pepper, herbs, biscuit and hints of vanilla on the finish. Peppery, but not acidic hippiness throughout is fantastic. Somehow incredibly well-malted for just 3.5%. Maybe oak adds tannic structure? Whatever the case, this is impressively well-made. No husky malt, no overdone oak...no thinning. Clean.

Undated can, fresh, from Crafted, drunk 6/1/23. Moderately hazy, waxy-honey-golden. Small, white head quickly to ring. Candles, pepper, sweat, pineapple, deep mandarin character. Not your typical Citra IPA, so that's cool that the Lupomax actually does something, though I'm not convinced I love the extra heavy pineapple. In the mouth it's dry, with a slight hint of petrol and strong sweat before succumbing to mandarin-pineapple. Cracker malt, barely enough depth. But clean enough, with no resin or alcohol.

Draught at the brewery, 2/4/23. Medium-to-dark amber. Little/no head. Caramel, lots of fruit with peachy-apricot and big vanilla-chocolate. Lingering caramel-vanilla. Not boozey. Missed the walnuts. Soft, very malty with lots of caramel, toffee, vanilla and fruity yeast. Get more barleywine than stout. Didn't get the walnuts but no doubt there's some nuttiness in there. Vanilla-strawberry-toffee lingering.

Can at the brewery, 2/4/23. Clear, cantaloupe-tinged golden. Medium-sized, white head shows moderate retention. Bright, fruity, lightly hoppy nose with hints of melon, star fruit, dainty, well-attenuated honey-like malt and fairly minimal breadiness. Yeast shows no diacetyl, thankfully and it's quite clean. In the mouth it's very soft, almost creamy in texture with lovely wood tannin contributing, no doubt. Melon, hints of citrus, bright floral notes and nothing aggressive. Honey and biscuit from the malt are supple and show good depth. Lots of flavor for its size. Quite interesting and well-done.

Undated can drunk 12/14/22. Heavily hazy, orange-juice-concrete with a small, spotty, frothy, whtie head atop. Soft spice and white wine of nelson is there, actually better than any Ive seen so far this year. No pine, resin, cracker, or heavy orange. In the mouth there's heavy diacetyl....womp womp. It's not ruinous or anything, and the citrus, white wine and such is lovely, but at the end of the day, its a lot of butter. Kind of astringent, heavily crackery, lots of bland butter.

From a 12 oz can. Pours a hazy gold with an off white head. Aromas are of dank hay and pineapple. Flavors are moderately bitter citrus.
