500ml bottle (gift) - Clear amber body, thin, bubbly off-white head. Grassy, malty aroma. Very high prickly carbonation, with a sweet, earthy, but bland taste. Dry bitter finish. Nothing special, let alone Extra Special.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury I think - Bronze with a small off-white foam. Aromas are light toffee malts with fruit followed by metallic, nutty hops. Flavours are burnt toffee malts with moreish bitter, metallic, hops. Bit thin, but better than I expected.

285 yen from Seiyu Minami-Kusatsu. The nose at first is quite skunky, then when you smell it more closely it gives you grainy biscuit/graham & caramel. Medium to thin bodied the taste is ashy, grainy malt forward with very little hop presence beyond a light lemony citrus. Average to below average... Kind of bland compared to US IPAs.
