Deep, dark brown colour with thin creamy head. Some hop citric acidity detectable in the aroma. Flavour has masses of roasted malt and has a hint of coffee in the aftertaste.

Dark brown in colour with ruby tones and a big, fluffy tan head. Sweet malt and dark fruit aroma. Flavour was sweet, with some chocolate, roastiness and an abrupt bitter finish. Ok.

Bottle. Very dark brown with beige long-lasting head. Dark, smoky / roasted malt aroma. Medium body with plenty of fine carbonation. Rich with a sharp and bitter edge giving good balance. Malty with fruit and some dark chocolate / coffee notes with a bitter finish. Well balanced, but Porter is not my favourite style.

500ml bottle from Asda, Ashford. Amber with thin off white head. Why isn’t this golden? Bleached hop aroma with some toffee candy sugar. Some hop/malt balance in mouth. Some floral hop on finish. It’s alright. Got Shep’s yeast character. Can’t help but think that it’s a slightly tweaked Goldings Ale. Hop sting is pretty good on end, but only an ok bitter.

Poured a dark mahogany colour with a thick caramel coloured head; typical chocolate malt aroma; sweet at first but balanced with a bittterness like that found in dark chocolate or cinder toffee. Satisfying but not outstanding.

Looks pretty standard for a bitter - chestnut brown with a white head. Malty aroma and stridently bitter taste. Excellent value.

Bottle, Picked up by friend in Asda 22-09-06. Standard brown beer with busy white head, not much of an aroma. Malty, caramelly tasting beer not one that particularly tickled my tastebuds but fine enough.
