Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle this beer poured a rich butterscotch color with a large caramel head. The aroma was sweet, fruity, yeasty and had a spritzy hop element. The mouthfeel was moderately thick and creamy. The flavor was tangy yet fairly dry with a floral and lightly fruity hop element and a yeasty, slightly nutty malt undertone. The finish is long, bready and sour.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear golden. Curious cardamom aroma. Sweet and lightly fuity. Loads of cardamom, some vanilla and ginger. Medium bodied with some light salty bitterness. A spiced ale that works - at least to a certain extent.

Cask@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Dark golden colour with mediumsized beige head. Aroma is caramel, hops and sweetness. Flavour is hay, hops, caramel malts. Aftertaste has a lot of caramel malts along with dry hayish bitterness. Overall quite sweet.

Cask@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Colour is golden and the head is white and foamy. Aroma is very much anis with some clove in it. Flavour is also spicy of anis and clove. Some slight hints of wheat and caramel also. A very weird mix of flavours in this one.

Bottled. Dark rubyreddish brown colour with a small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, smoke, licorace and ashy. Some slight wooden hints are also present. Flavour is strong roasted malts, with some burnt wooden-sourish hints. Also some licorace and coffee in the flavour. Aftertaste is mainly coffeeish bitterness. Easy to drink, and the carbonation tickles the tongue in a nice way. A bit thin palate, but otherwise good.

Pale copper brown color, small white head. Cut grass aroma. Nutty hoppy, a bit woody flavor. Some caramel, dry aftertaste. Nice.

Pale golden color, small white head. Very spicey (fenchol and clove) aroma. Clove dominates medium-bodied brew. Not really a witbier but kind of spicey Christmas beer.

(Cask real ale at Olver twist, Stockholm) Hoppy and bitter taste with a touch of apricots. Smooth and almost mouth puckering bitter mouthfeel. Good bitterness. Nice forrest and hoppy scent, some almonds also. Clear copper color with a small white head.

Dark brown beer, with some orange highlights; nearly no head. Very strange nose, combination of chocolate & tobacco on one head, and rosemary or lavender, pineresin and cypress on the other. Cardemom there too, somewhere, very aromatic. Spicey taste too, with cumulation of chocolate- and other dark malts. Again quite perfumed. Ends bitterish with tobacco notes. Somehow a British ale must remain a British ale, and that means a lot of water. Slight burning MF, slightly slick. I cannot remember how the cask version struck me, but if the bottle is any indication, it must have been quite good. Thanks, podge!

Bottle 0,5l bought at Kilpishalli, Kilpisjärvi, Finland. Completely black with a large, creamy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate. A bit light bodied but the fingerprints of a stout are there - in a diluted version: Hints of coffee, chocolate and liquorice. Quite good for its (lack of) strength.
