Description
In the wide-skied arable lands of Holderness, down a tree-lined lane, lies Great Newsome Brewery. Here you will find beers for all seasons and all-year drinking.

We don’t try to reinvent the wheel. We keep it simple, using superb natural ingredients to make beer that you can sit back and enjoy, without even thinking about it. Which in our opinion is the sign of a very good pint indeed. It’s traditional craft beer with a modern twist.
Growing our own malting barley gave us a good start and we have since developed special strains of yeast as well as experimenting with homegrown hops, although they are difficult this far north.
Visiting our shop, you’ll be sure of a tail wagging welcome from our English Springer Spaniels, descendants of the late Jem, our mascot who is fondly remembered on bottle labels and draft beer bar tags.

Bottle from Vine and Grain. Appearance - very close to jet black and with an olive sheen. Beige fluffy head. Nose - roast, light tar and very gentle smoke. The liquorice is more like a Pontefract cake, that is sweeter and richer. Taste - tar, toffee and smoke and again generally on the sweeter side of liquorice. Palate - medium bodied. Roasty middle and finish. Overall - good.
