Draft at the brewery. Pours a clear, brown color, with a big, bubbly, beige head. The aroma is leather, cacao, walnut, light anise, and caraway. Fairly dry, malty, and a little bitter. Light, musty, and a bit biting. Solid.

Draft at the brewery. Pours a murky, orange color, with a big, foamy, beige head. The nose is grass clippings, light leather, sage, orange pith, and toast. Sweet and nicely malty, with a mellow bitterness. Light, dusty, and a bit biting. Easy, smooth, and on style.

On tap at the brewery. Pours black, with a big, foamy, tan head. The aroma is light roast coffee, toasted oak, caramel, maple syrup, and cardamom. Sweet and malty, with a mild, brisk bitterness. Heavy, chewy, grainy, and just a touch boozy. Tasty, balanced, and interesting.

Tap at Troubles End. Pleasant San Diego feel. Watermelon touched hop tone. Pretty enjoyable Pale Ale for sure. Good.

Tap at Troubles End. Rather unique Saison I suppose. Some earthy, rustic aromas. Medium bodied, with some borderline infected/off tones, presumably from the dry hopping, which they repeatedly fail at. Was probably pretty good before the hopping. Not that great now. Awkward buttery hop tone.

Growler from Troubles End. A rather stupendous example of the style. Filtered golden straw body. steady white head. Rich and malty, but very clean and drinkable too. Great lagering notes, pleasant notes of Munich malt. Perfect soft hop balance. World Class stuff. Awesome.

Growler from the brewery. Perhaps my favorite smoked beer from Troubles End yet. Really pleasant crisp hop balance. Perfectly clean body, no flabby sweetness, well attenuated and delicious. The oyster tone is mild but there, accentuating the smoked malt tones with a mellow rustic salty seaside note. Really well executed. Awesome beer.

Tap at TE. Clean, pleasant body. Doesn't really drink like previous mixed fermentation saisons I've had from them, more of a classical Grisette. Zesty, pleasant, but not so much depth. OK.

Tap at TE. Rich, deep roast and chocolate aroma. Hefty and sweet. Rich and malty. Full bodied. A little overly sweet, not the most drinkable beer. Still tasty.

Tap at TE. Still not really into Michigan Saaz vs. German grown, but this is a well executed and enjoyable. Great crackery malt tone, pleasant earthy, vegetal hop balance. Good.
