Description
Housed beneath The Rat and Ratchet and since the very first brew of Lab Rat in 2011, head brewer, Paul Spencer and brewer Robin Moss, have created rodent themed beers to critical acclaim. Our beers are distinctive, extreme, generally intensely hopped and anything but average, experimenting with a range of different beer styles, strengths and ingredients. Rat beer is now infecting all four corners of the UK faster than the Black Death, turning a local infestation into a national plague. White Rat in particular has emerged as the flagship beer and now sits within the Ossett core range.

Descent raspberry notes. Soft malt. Clean. A little tart. I dig it.

Keg at The Furnace, Saturday 25th July 2015 Pours black with a fizzy light tan head. Fruit is nice a little bittersweet cherry providing a bit of tartness, though not as chocolatey as I would have liked. An ashy roasty edge. Good. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov15 3.5

Cask. Shakespeare’s, Sheffield. Very hazy straw colour. Thin, bubbly, clingy, white head. Bubblegum and banana esters. Peach. Grainy and bready. Taste has an equal measure of sweet and dry. Oily palate. A bit too slick. Soft carbonation. Finishes a bit sickly sweet. Comes over slightly artificial. Not for me, this one.

7th July 2015: hand-pulled cask half-pint in The Anchor, Birmingham. For Ratella read Nutella, this deep, smooth black brew with a good tanned head is a chocolate and nutty flavoured beer. Different and most enjoyable for someone like me with a sweet tooth.
