Description
Housed beneath The Rat and Ratchet and since the very first brew of Lab Rat in 2011, head brewer, Paul Spencer and brewer Robin Moss, have created rodent themed beers to critical acclaim. Our beers are distinctive, extreme, generally intensely hopped and anything but average, experimenting with a range of different beer styles, strengths and ingredients. Rat beer is now infecting all four corners of the UK faster than the Black Death, turning a local infestation into a national plague. White Rat in particular has emerged as the flagship beer and now sits within the Ossett core range.

Cask, handpump at The Rat and Ratchet, Huddersfield 17.03.12 in company of dad & Barry Golden in colour with a slim white head, good looker. Hoppy but with a slight plasticcy edge, bit dry, it’s fine but the slight plastic taste nagging away which sort of derails what would otherwise have been a very decent beer. A6 A5 T6 P3 Ov12 3.2

Cask, gravity at Dudley Winter Ales Festival Sat 26th November 2011 with Bob Pours dark gold with good clarity. There is a little sweetness and woodiness from the off. This is quite fruity and tangy, it’s ok. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Cask handpull at Henrys Sheffield. Clear pale gold lasting off white head. Its an ok golden ale. Sparkler too tight quite yeasty. Not too bad but its too tight on the sparkler to get real taste. Fine.

Hazy amber beer, ghost of a white head. Low carbonation. Tangy orange, a bit stagnant with a little dust in the background. Some chilli burn kicks in at the semi dry finish. Chilli powder added to a poor base beer. Found this very hard to get down.
