Description
Otherlands Beer is our funny little family-owned brewery & cafe nestled into the Sunnyland neighborhood of Bellingham, Washington. While we originally conceived of our pub as a cottage in the woods called “Chickens As Friends” that brewed one beer and served food exclusively from our garden, we decided that a cozy 50-seat cafe was a bit more reasonable.
Dreamt up and founded by two brewing and service industry veterans, Karolina Lobrow & Ben Howe, Otherlands Beer is a celebration of easy drinking beer, thoughtful food, and warm hospitality.
At the cafe you’ll find our modest selection of unfiltered lagers, farmhouse ales, and modern American pale ales served fresh from the tap and gravity cask and paired with old-world inspired meals and snacks from our humble kitchen. We invite you to come explore Otherlands with us.

Dull gold with a medium head. Buttery nose. Less butter on the palate but yeah it's a bit distracting to say the least.

Light, pale, with some haze. No head. Full gloppy pale malt - even this style needs some hop. Vaguely biscuity. Yeah, this is just underhopped.

On tap at Elizabeth Station, pours a mostly clear bright golden with a medium white head. Aroma smells like an American tripel, with plenty of candi sugar, light cotton candy, and some esters — doesn't smell authentic. Flavour also has that yeast fermentation issue that most American breweries have when attempting this style: estery, boozy, and lightly sweet. Messy and poorly fermented but not a disaster.

On tap at Garden Path - Bellingham, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out crisp crackery malt and some grassiness. Flavour is dry and clean, with crackery malt, gentle grassy bitterness, and straw. A bit under-hopped with a Czech pils -- at least it lacks the punch and spiciness I want in a Czech pils. Drinkable but underwhelming.

Murky, dull pale. Thick head but otherwise doesn't look good. Lol this is rustic pils all right, like you'd get at some small village brewery that has a good heart but not such good brewing technique but the grandma serving you is so adorable you rate their beer higher. Technically though it's really yeasty, medium bitterness, malts aren't dialed in but that's all on the ferm.

Chill haze, thick head. Pale amber. Herbal aroma, slightly grassy. Malt-forward, light bitterness and noble hops. Low carbo, zwickel-style, not bad. I prefer these to be more bitter, but this is well made.

Amber with a slight haze. Thick head. Light pine, biscuity malt, a little bit of bitterness in the finish, but not chewy, just hop and alcohol. Decent.

On tap at The Beer Junction, pours a clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out fresh grassy hops, pine, and biscuity malt. Flavour is bitter, with a touch of tartness, grassy hops, and some oiliness. Grassy and piney with a touch of tartness on the finish. It's alright.
