Bottle from Denman’s Wine and Spirits, Vancouver
Hazy golden color. The malts have a cereal character, the bitterness is strong but the hop is mainly resiny, not much fruity; the mouthfeel is lean and slightly oily; the boozy character is a bit too strong compared to similar beer. Nice beer, not the IIPA I will look for again, though.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver; 10oz
Cloudy golden color. Fruity aroma. The body is not too weak, but the malt flavor has a strong cereals component, paper, dust; strong bitterness. Resiny final.
Good beer, but needs a better job with the malt.

Draft - Bit of soap and nice grassy notes. Cloudy gold with a nice white head. Fresh grassy notes, lemon soap and a nice bit of tartness. Not very complex but very drinkable.

650mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Nose is pretty fresh with resinous hops, lots of caramel, and some alcohol. Flavour is quite perfumey, with lots of floral hops, resin, and lots of alcohol. Quite hot for an 8.7% IIPA -- it drinks like a few more %. Not very cohesive at all. Not terrible, but this needs major tweaking.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a clear blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out Belgian yeast, cereal notes and light whispy wheat. Flavour is very restrained but at least clean, with cereal and biscuity malt, and a touch of Belgian yeast. Clean and refreshing, but extremely boring and lacking character. Okay.

Blond color with very small head. Some plastic aroma, and flavor if possible; no notable malt or hop; it was wrongly listed at 9.6%, and indeed it didn’t have the feeling of a big beer at all. I was expecting more, this is just another North American attempt at Belgian beers. I wish I had some greasy food to help here. Not a bad beer, but boring.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a hazy dull yellow with a small white head. Aroma is crisp, with dry crackery malt, some slight metallic notes, and dry grassy herbal hops. Flavour is crisp and rather aggressive, with dry herbal grassy hops and a great crisp crackery malt backbone. No unpleasant metallic tinges. Very well-balanced and with just the right amount of bite. Very good.

Poured from the tap. Slightly hazy golden yellow with orange tinge and white head. Light, piney hops, more flavour than most watery ISAs.
