Description
In 2003 the Pask family, long-time residents of Fernie, had a dream of their own to bring the brew back to the small rocky mountain coal mining town. They did just that, setting up a Brewery in their family barn. It was the start of things to come.

In 2007 we relocated to our existing building, designed and built from scratch. With constant growth, Brewhouse expansion, new products and revamped recipes, we’ve travelled through kegs to cans to 650ml bottles and into growlers, currently distributing throughout BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and into Manitoba. As we continue to grow, we’ll never forget our roots. It’s as simple as Good Beer from a Good Town.

Bottle - The usual pumpkin notes and spices with the hint of molasses. Dark clear brown with a beige head. Pumpkin up front, followed by spices and finishing with chocolate roasted malts. I think the finish really makes this beer, although a bit light on the palate.

66cl Bottle, thanks H&T! Clear light-amber colour, off-white head. Aroma of caramel, malts, some floral hops, bit of resin, classical American IPA. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, caramel, some resin and grass, light-bitter floral finish. Light-bodied. Decent, but boring IPA.

650mL bottle, pours a dirty dark amber / maroon with a small beige head. Aroma of dark fruits (plums especially), some wheat, clove and banana. Flavour brings out loads of clove, some banana, earthy qualities and dark fruits. The banana and clove comes through the most at the end, with no hint of the alcohol. Decent stuff.

Bottle: Poured a pale yellow color ale with white hues and a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of coriander and orange peel with some lightly sweet wheat malt notes. Taste is also dominated by coriander and orange peel with some lightly sweet wheat malt notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. This is a pretty good example of the style with some complexity while retaining a good level of drinkability.

Pours a gold with just a reddish tint, and a modest head on top that’s pure white. The aroma is mashed nondescript fruits with a hint of malt, that somehow comes across as smelling like cheeseburgers... or maybe that’s just my stomach growling. There is a faint syrupy hint on the nose as well, fruit-juice like, possibly huckleberry-ish but in no way enticing; possibly less so. Flavour is of detergent wheat-beer with a fruity finish. Not much balance here, more of a sequential experience; less of a harmony rather than a drive-thru of flavours. I’m finding this drinkable, but also finding it hard to get excited about.
