Sample at GABF 10/11/2012, thanks to Bluemeow76 for assistance with note-taking. Pours black with some amber around the edges and a medium beige head and patchy lacing. Aroma of smoke and malt. Medium body with flavors of smoked malt and hops. The finish is smoky with a malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Tap at the brewpub. Black/3 finger creamy dark tan head - really dark roast aroma - suggests BA - some coffee. Flavor is burnt malt and hoppy - passing on to strong coffee. Really has character.

Brown/creamy beige head. Creamy roast malt aroma - typical brown. Smooth brown malt flavor with some light chocolate. Very smooth and tasty. Mild ale? Seems more of a brown. But the bar guy was firm, and the tap handle backed him up.

Amber gold/foamy off-white head. Mild floral/malty aromas. Flavor same with an interesting citrus touch. Wife thought it excellent. And she tends to avoid beer.
