From a bottle at the DC tasting July 10, 2016. Pours a clear copper with an off white head. Aroma of sour cherries. Flavors of tart red grapes and oak. Smooth, tart finish.

Bottle. Hazy to cloudy golden amber color, big off tan head. Aroma has tannins, port wine, vanilla, sour cherry. Taste is is sweet, sour bitter plum and cherry. Lots going on here, doesn’t quite come together, but is interesting and flavorful for a lower abv beer.

Tasting at Matt’s
Cloudy amber color, small head. Nice sour aroma, malt. It may have some residual sweetness, juicy, with cherries, nice degree of sourness, lemony touch. Clean and aggressive, very nice.

Bottle - Vinngar and red fruity notes. Cloudy copper with a decent white head. Acidic, vinegar and Berry notes. Berry isn’t distinct or fruity enough but still OK.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy murky dark brownish orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of Worcestershire sauce, balsamic vinegar, and sour astringency. Flavour is a little more palatable, with a decent mix of balsamic, Worcestershire sauce, dark fruits, and red wine. Acidity is pretty high, as well as the vinegar on the finish. Solid attempt but not fully convincing.

New world sour - that can go either way, as I’ve discovered, so I shall harbour no prejudices aside from those already imbued from previous experiences. This has a modest brown head, dark brown body. Aroma of cherries and wood on a more fake level, less earthy and organic as one which imbues these flavours from more natural sources - it’s a subtle distinction but immediately noticeable once you smell it. Flavour is sour cherry with smoky barley malt hints on the back end. Missing oiliness. A little watery, but not too much so. It’s an average new world attempt at this kind of beer, but lacking a deep understanding of it and a real attention to detail that would take it to the next level.

Bottle - Toasty dark malts and cherry. Deep dark brown with a light brown head. Soured cherry and decent dark malts with some oak. Not bad.
