About
Former name: "Münch-Bräu Eibau".

In 1810, the Eibau brewery was established by the Zittau brewing community.
The location of Eibau was confirmed by King Friedrich August I (1806-1827 King of Saxony) as the first rural brewery in the Zittau area. Since then, beer has been brewed here in the heart of the Upper Lausitz.

Dark brown, good tanned creamy head. Metallic, chicken food aroma. A bit roasted, flavor par to aroma too. Lame with unclean aroma and flavors.

Bottled. Golden coloured, mediumsized white bubbly head. Strong malty hoppy aroma. Strong hayish malty flavour with hops and a bit honey in it. Pleasant, wellbalanced and refreshing.

Bottle: Dark amber coloured, lasting, thin off-white foamy layer; typical aroma: roasted malts, molasses, hops from far behind; heavy sweet and malty start; taste of a sweetened coffee, light hoppiness in the short finish; oily texture; typical "DDR"-taste, not bad, but too sweet for me.........

(bottle) Dark brown colour with a medium tanned foamy head. Sweet malty nose with raisins. Sweet flavour. Sweet, slightly toasted malty taste with strong hints of caramel and sugar. Quite sweet finish with a rather short length and hints of raisins. Not my kind of taste, too sweet and too Malzbier-like.

(bottle) Dark brown colour with a non existent white “head”. Slight malty nose. Quite dry flavour, light to medium bodied, soft carbonated. Initially boring taste of some roasted malts getting more interesting with its dry and hopbitter finish.

Dark brown; tinny nose; thin, bland palate. An example of how not to do it.
