My twelve ounce can (slim) reads 'White Lion' on the Anglosized side of the can, with 'King' below. Perfectly clear golden coloured body with a thinnish, pure white head. Aroma of straw, hay, grass, light grain and a dose of pure caster sugar with nothing else going for it. Light-bodied; Ultra-smooth grassy and malty flavours show first with not much of anything, perhaps some rice and hay with only a touch of caster sugar and no hops or anything of substance to talk about. Aftertaste is mild with some rice and light grain notes, a bit of hay and grass and that's about it - pretty subdued throughout, but no real surprise there. Overall, a pretty underwhelming beer that doesn't show much flavour at all with only some grass and sweetness at the tail end, but nothing going on during the sample. Not horrible, and considering the heat, not a bad option, especially considering the price! I sampled this slimline, 33 cL can purchased from Circle K in Saigon, Vietnam for VND11,000, sampled on the streets here of Saigon on 09-August-2019.

Draft - Dark malts and light toast. Jet black with a rich beige head. Light molasses and dark malts with a long finish. Again, nothing wrong here, although a bit sweet.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy long-lasting off white head. The aroma is light sweet malt. The flavour is light sweet with a dough yeast, grainy, earthy, light medicinal palate. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. By far the worst of the brewpub dunkel’s I’ve tasted in recent times.

Tap at the brewpub. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head and a little lace. The aroma is dry mineral malt, cardboard. The flavour is light bitter with a smooth grainy mineral light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. About what you would expect at a Vietnamese brewpub. Won’t win any awards.

30cl draft at the brewpub. Almost clear dark golden with an off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel. Sweet and malty followed by a slight bitter finish. Nice to finaly have a fresh beer with some bitterness again. More bitter than most pale lagers down here. Quite decent brew. (2012-05-11)

Light bronze colour. Faint aroma hints of malts. Very light hop accent. Vaguely leafy accent with biscuity malt character and some minerally dryness in the finish.
