650 ml bottle purchased at Greg & Jane’s Epping, NH. Brown color, thin fading head, aroma is earthy grain, yeast, and caramel.

The earthy grain dominates the flavor. Yeast is in the main body with a slight caramel finish. Body is lighter side of medium. Grainy texture with a lingering earthy aftertaste. I guess for the style is is ok.

Bottle from the Lazy Dog Pours a hazy deep brown color with a small off white head that has to be coaxed out. Rich caramel and toffee on the nose with hints of earth. The flavor is more rich toffee and caramel with hints of pitted fruit some of that earth and a hint of molasses and a light astringency. This ones no too shabby.

22 oz. bottle purchased at Bert’s Better Beers. No date coding of any kind. I really, REALLY wish I would have read johnnnniee’s review BEFORE I purchased this waste of money *long extended sigh*

Aroma is light grain and white bread, maybe yeast. The flavor just isn’t working. Bready malt with very weak herbal hops. The bitterness is overly astringent. Maybe something was off with the hop addition because this is harsh. Also a strange off flavor of yeast or malt. Not easy to drink at all. This was the second chance I gave this brewer, there will not be a third. Shame on me, most of this was a drain pour.

Bottle from Greg and Jan’s Pours a slightly hazy deep yellow with a frothy off white head that persists. Aromas of light bready crackery pilsner malt and a hint of spicy floral hops. Somewhat bitter flavor that is a bit astringent like sucking on an aspirin. Mild sweet bready malt solid spicy peppery hops. Meh!

Tap at Cask and Vine Slightly hazy dark brown with a smallish off white head that fades quickly. Huge coffee on the nose with some faint caramel and chocolate deep underneath. A bit more sweetness in the flavor but overwhelming coffee flavor that at times is a bit acrid. Not too shabby.

650 ml bottle purchased at Greg &Jane’s Beer and Wine, Epping, NH. Aroma is light citrus rind, wheat and a faint note of pine.

The base is a moderate amount of malted wheat backbone with a slightly harsh pine finish. The carbonation is low and gives a near flat texture. (Not completely flat) but pretty close. Drinkable but for this to be a repeat buy, it needs a little work. Difficult style to really impress people with.

Bottle from A Lazy Dog Somewhat hazy deep yellow color with a minimal head and very faint signs of carbonation. Spicy earthy light lemon with bits of citrus and pine on the nose. The flavor is somewhat sweet bready with just a hint of spice and some light citrus and pine hop flavor. Has a bit of lingering astringency that doesn’t seem hop derived. Light somewhat easy drinking beer, more hoppy than wheaty but a decent quaffer.

650 ml bottle. A touch high on the carbonation level. Aroma is big rye, weak citrus and spent grain. Flavor has the spicy rye as the base of the beer. Some caramel backing that barely gives any sweetness. The citrus is over run by the assertive rye grain. Overall, overly spicy. The caramel malt and citrus hops don’t do much in the way to balance. Yeah, let’s just say I’m not running out to get more from Swift Current.

Bottle from a Lazy Dog Dark brown with a smallish tightly bubbled tan head that dissipates quickly. Peppermint and chocolate on the nose dominate my nostrils. Think thin mints or girl scout cookies. The flavor starts out like cookies then into the finish its a bit of roast and then its all peppermint and turns more like the chewing gum flavor. I’ve had a couple peppermint beers before and this one is probably the most well done. I think this would work even better if the base beer had a bit more residual sugar and finish was a little less dry.
