(Cask at Carpenters Arms, Marylebone, London, 18 Apr 2009) Nut brown colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with dark fruit and dusty hops. Malty, nutty taste with notes of chocolate, orange and earthy hops in the finish. Medium body, balanced sweetness. A nice and well made bitter with good balance between malt and hops.

Bottle, Co-Op Hoylake. Poured a reddy brown colour with a dissipating off white head. Aroma and flavourwas caramel malt heavy with some muted hop. Some low key bitterness going down. Unremarkable yet tolerably drinkable.

Cask handpull at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Gold, lasting white head. Good condition. Honey really shines through. Gives it some sweetness, but keeps its balance. I liked it very much. Good honey and flavour balanced by hop. Good.

Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading. Very average and uninteresting. Pale gold with a thin white head; no noticeable aroma; lemon and lime flavours over a watery grainy base; little in the way of a finish. No sign of any honey.
