Bottled. Amber in colour. Aroma of apples and resiny hops. Sweet and mild with light body and a dominating pine needle flavour. Light bitterness.

Many breweries describe their stouts as being inky black, but this beer''s description doesn''t even say it, and it is the most inky black stout I have seen that isn''t an imperial. No light passes through whatsoever, but there is no head. This brew is all about oats and coffee, both in generous amounts in the flavor. That roasted barley really comes through here. Everything is perfectly balanced in the flavor, and the smooth, rich finish is quite enjoyable. I have to lower the palate a bit due to its near total lack of carbonation, but other than that, this is a great stout.

Amber-orange colour, cloudy, poor head.Nice fruity aroma, not too strong (banana, abricot, ...). Sudden aggression of hop in the mouth; smooth, drinkable, no malt taste. Good bitter final, only partially aromatic.

As far as I could tell inside the dimly lit pub it was black as coal, and didn't have much head. Really roasty nose with loads of coffee and licorice. It is dry with just above medium bodym is somewhat smokey and buttery, and finishes salty and bitter. An excellent, complex and flavourful stout.

Orange-brown and very hazy. Medium bodied with a harsh mouthfeel. Immensly bitter. Nice.

Deep orange coloured. Big ginger smell, light bodied, somewhat acidic. In all a drinkable unusual beer.

A lighter interpretation, a bit yeasty, perhaps muddled a bit in terms of what it is trying to accomplish. Saved by the wonderful Maris Otter flavours.
