No love for Wit beers on this site and I am not surprised no one is happy with an experimental/hybrid wit. Its basically a lagered wit, which comes out very much like a lagered Wit, surprising. Pours a very pale golden/clear yellow color with visible carbonation and a small head that eventually fades into nothingness. Aroma is very much like a lagered Wit with a clean lemon zing and lots of coriander. Taste is just straight zingy lemon coriander, not even a blend, more like someone breed lemon coriander. Awesome, the lagering is great actually, really cleans up the rest of the beer and makes it a beautiful easy drinking spiced sensation. I would drink this anytime I am looking for a summer brew. This is the second well done lager I have had from Shmaltz.[BR]22oz bottle, Sam Adams "special" glass.

Pours clear golden with white head. Grassy aroma. Flavor is slightly bitter and malty with some alcohol and a metallic taste. Body is pretty full for a lager. Moderate carbonation. An OK lager.

Pour is a bright golden with a large white head. Aroma is of crisp floral hops and a good helping of malts. Flavor is biscuit malts with some grain and a bit of pepper. Finish is thick with a bit of the alcohol. Basically its just a heavier lager but it does work. Good enough for a try.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is some lemon and spice with a bit of yeast. Flavor is some spice but a huge amount of super carbonation which leaves a prickly sensation on the tounge that takes away any other flavor. I don’t know what they were going for here but its not working in my book.

I’ve really enjoyed these coney island lager products...until now - this one just doesn’t come together very well - fizzy clear golden beer - minimal head - the aroma is promising, with complex, hearty grains and sweet malts that give the impression of bread drizzled with honey - some bright fruity character underneath - fairly smooth mouthfeel - a little syrupy, though - there is a lot of honey sweetness up front, and fairly strong grain flavors, which are followed by somewhat potent bitterness - they used far too many different hops in this one, and it results in a hop flavor that is neither well-balanced, nor well integrated - this, coupled with the high sweetness, results in a beer that pulls off the astounding feat of being both too sweet and too bitter at the same time - I suppose I should give them props for that - thanks, schmaltz!

A "White Lager". 12oz bottle. Would a White Lager be the same thing more or less as a Weiss..but spiced more like an over-the-top Belgian Wit? I guess so. Thick creamy golden color with a respectable head. Not so subtle spices come through all over the place, but it is really quite an enjoyable beverage. Almost bocky on some levels. Intricate, interesting new addition to the Shmaltz family.

Bottle courtesy of Tony at OTH. Pour amber/orange with a white head. Caramel malt and sugary add to the sweetness. Average Coney beer, little bit of a let down.

Bomber courtesy of Tony at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours crystal clear deep gold with white head. Nice fresh noble hoppy aroma with some sweet maltiness in the background. The taste is spice hops, a bit of lemon tartness and then some sweet malts come in to even things out a bit. Midway the malts and flavor hops peak to a pleasing level. It ends with a bit of sweetness and spicy bitter hops.

Poured up on tap at the Oldsmar Tap House. Pours a hazy gold/straw color with bright white head and some nice cobweb lacing. Cool looking brew. The aroma starts with some sweetness that has an apple angle to it. Then it becomes lemon, hay and a bit of sweet and tart cherry candy. The taste rises up quickly with mild tartness, apple sweetness, some building malt sweetness and noble hop bitterness. The noble hop notes grow to midway and into the finish along with lemon, mild ginger and residual zestiness. Great full flavored hot weather brew.

Pours cloudy straw yellow with big white head. Aromas of corriander and lavender. Flavors of corriander, clove bread and lemon. Has a touch of spiciness. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. Something different and interesting to try.
