(bottle, 4.7% abv, with thanks to Quack-Duck for the Freistädter samples) Cloudy, amber coloured and effervescent hue with a short off-white foamy layer. Sweet and yeasty (cara-)malty aroma with notes of grain and a subtle fruity touch. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a lively carbonation. Yeasty and slightly bready (cara-)malty taste; dry and bitter, moderately hoppy finish with a tinge of citrus. Likeable, not too sweet Zwickel (26.XI.08).

(bottle) Almost clear, pale golden colour with a mid-sized foamy white head. Sweet malty and slightly grainy nose with a delicate herbal hoppy touch. Light-bitter flavour, light bodied, crispy mf. Soft grainy base with shy but still noticeable hoppy notes, getting slightly stronger towards the dry and slim, also slightly metallic finish. Still a drinkable light Pilsener (03.XII.08).

Bottled(500ml). -Dark orange coloured, medium sized white head, mild smokey sausages (hot dog) nose. Unfortunately quite weak malty but pleasant smokey bacon and sausages taste with mild herbal notes. Easy drinkable rauchbier.

07/04 0.5 l bottle courtesy of ogivlado, thanks for sharing! This one poured a murky copper-amber body with medium sized ebony head. Very weak malty aroma. Flavor was pretty odd now, had some ham, sausages and other smoked meat, but not too intensive, quite mild all in all. Wood and caramel also evident. Thinner bodied. Some grassy hops show up finally in its aftertaste. I had two atypical smoked before, so this was quite strange for me. It didn’t impress me, but was just fine.

0.5l bottle shared with heavy and ogivlado, courtesy of the latter (thanks!). Poured a murky darker orange-golden body with a medium-small chalky white head. The nose is so damn light... a bit smokey. The taste is light again, but it’s actually there and it’s actually pleasant, smoke (sausages), herbal notes, light bitter aftertaste. Mild for a Rauchbier but nice.

Bottle, Dank an Quack-Duck! Clear, ruby-amber coloured, slowly diminishing off-whit head, shy dark-malty, caramelly nose with a bitter touch. Moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied. Lingering caramelly-hoppy finish with a coffeeish touch in the aftertaste. A restrained, but very well balanced Dunkel...........

Bottle - thanx to Quack-Duck ! Greenish-golden, lively carbonation, mid-sized, quite stable white fluffy head. Grainy-strawy nose with a papery tinge. Dry bitter flavour, light bodied, but not watery at all. Dry bitter-grassy finish. Not bad for a light beer...........

Bottle, kindly donated by Quack-Duck! Light amber coloured, a bit unclear, lacy off-white head. Sweet pale-malty nose with hoppy edges and a shy smoked-caramelly background. Moderate to robust sweet-bitter flavour, soft MF, light to medium bodied. Lingering, woody, caramelly, smoky and also dryish hoppy finish. Fine austrian Rauchbie...........
