Clear gold beer. Soft and slightly syrupy palate. Frothy and creamy in the mouth and retains a syrupy consistency throughout. Rich malt and hop fruit come through with a minerally and slightly spicy finish. Not bad at all but this beer scores heavy on it’s excellent palate!

On tap at the Rake. Clear gold beer, rich and creamy. Soft, malty with a deep rich fruit background. Dry finish. Nice beer!

Bottle. Pours lager like but with a more creamy head. Taste of sweet malt and hops, a bit like a US barley wine.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with a big white head. Vegtable and alcohol notes in aroma. Sweet and hoppy taste with a warming aftertaste of alcohol and burned malts.

Bottle, 05l. Golden color with thick white head. Almost no aroma with fresh fruity notes. Taste grainy, refreshing light bitter with long dry finish. Good beer, good brewery.

Medium white head. Muddy deep orange body. Mealy grainy banana aroma with earthy rye notes. Taste is much the same. Light body. Dusty mealy mouthfeel. Dry astringent earthy dusty grainy rye aftertaste. Very nice, and highly unusual. (0.33l bottle, Old Brewery, Greenwich, London.)

Bottle in Vienna. Light yellow color with a tall fine head. Not really what I think of as Maerzen color... Light malt aroma. Good hops as well. A touch of sweetness, Strong hop flavor, ok malt, not at all sweet. Decent balance on the hop side. Malt is light to medium, but good. Lighter body. Ok hop finish. Malt lingers as well. Very nice. Light hell, but very good indeed.

Cloudy amber color. Very strong rye malty nose with some cloves and bananas. The rye overpowers on the first sip, but then your palate adjusts and you want more. Wonderful. Very smooth mouth, low hops, excellent balance. Refreshing. Spicy rye finish. Hands down best rye beer in the world. THis is the shit!

@Aldgate on tap. I think this is the only rating for the beer on tap and I would say it must hold up much better on tap than in a bottle. Dark amber color. Very malty. Smells like fresh cereal. Body is smooth with cereal everywhere. Hops are very low. Refreshing. Long cereal finish. Great stuff.

Thin brown color, like a dunkel weizen. Aroma is also sweet and banana. Taste itself was very hard to distinguish from a dark wheat beer. A bit of sourness seems to come from the rye. It was very nice, although not near as out of the ordinary as I expected.
