0.5l bottle courtesy of ogivlado who brought it from Austria (thanks!), shared with him and heavy Poured a murky peach colour with a small but thick white head that went away slowly. Intensive perfumey clove nose... I usually don’t like them much in my beer but this one was remarkably nice. It’s lactic too and some light banana can be found as well. Nice. Coming in with somewhat low/no expectation this was a pleasant surprise, and the taste was even better. Strong cloves, remarkably tasty spice notes, ending lemony and peppery. The lemon morphs into elder from time to time. Extremely weak banana. Some hop bitterness too. It’s dry and remarkably complex for the style. Long bitter spicey aftertaste. The balance between the intensive spice and the lemony bitterness is just perfect. I shouldn’t like it all that much because of the spiciness and yet I do Just wow. We might’ve just hit a great bottle but I really feel that this is underrated a lot.

Bottle from SPAR, Vienna. Deep gold in colour, with no head yet moderate carbonation. Sweet malt aroma with a touch of corn and hay. Flavour much the same, with also a touch of dusty hops leading to a dry finish. An ok lager.

bottle, Billa Gmünd. Clear brown colour, large beige head. Malty nose with hints of caramel. Very malty, sweet-sih body with some underlying hoppy flavours. Lovely and intensive flavours of roasted malts and caramel, also forest honey. I really enjoyed it, and it reminded me of good Czech dark beers (no wonder: this one is brewed only a few miles from teh border).

bottle, Billa Gmünd. Cear pale golden colour, large white head. Malty nose. Malty and hopps, slightly grainy with ashy hint of lemon. Well-balanced, bitter-sweet, pleasant mouthfeel. A Märzen with traits of a Bohemian Pilsener, brewed only a few kilometres from the Czech border. Delicious.

A bottle from Julius Meinl in Vienna, 2006. Light golden color, tall fine head. Bitter, fruity, spicy aroma. Like a decent pils. Rather sweet, citrus flavor. Lemon. Clear taste of the hemp, more than in any of the others I have tried. Strong hemp finish. Sweeter than I expected, yet not very deep in malt. Interesting, but far too sweet. Almost tastes like radler.

Draught. Quite stable white head. Nice banana aroma. Quite flavourful, banana, lots of spices. Starts off mild, but gets a little bitter towards the end. Soft mouthfeel.
