Taster at the brewery. Clear, ruby, brown color, with a small, foamy, tan head. The aroma is apple brandy, cardamom, mild anise, oak, caramel, and almond. Very sweet and sugary, with a mild, earthy bitterness. Medium to heavy body, slick, and a bit hot. Bold, complex, and enjoyable.

Pint at the brewery. Pours a clear, orange color, with a small, bubbly, beige head. The aroma is mellow resin, caramel, coriander, and sawdust. Dry and astringent, with a dusty bitterness. Medium body, grainy, and sticky. Pretty nice, hoppy lager, but not much of a festbier.
