18/5/2023. Bottle bought at Kaohsiung Draft Beer tap house. Enjoyed back in downtown Taipei at Grand Hyatt in our room on 19th floor with views of Taipei 101 (through very dirty windows). Pours unclear orange amber with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma brings out the Sorachi Ace nicely, with lemony, earthy, citrus, herbal, spicy notes, a little caramel, slightly soapy edge. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness, with a slight tart and spicy edge, all nicely balanced. Medium body, average carbonation. Well done.

5/5/2024. Bottle from Kaohsiung Draft Beer tap house. Pours clear amber bronze with minimal hear. Aroma is peaty, leather, whiskey, woody, berries. Moderate sweetness, medium peaty bitterness. Medium body, oily smooth, low carbonation. Peat’s not my thing, but this was pretty decent.

9/5/2023. Draft at Kaohsiung Draft Beer tap house. Pours black with a small off-white to beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, liquorice, molasses, chocolate, sweet caramel, vanilla, vinous edge. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Medium to full body, quite smooth, soft carbonation. Very nice.

9/5/2023. Draft at Kaohsiung Draft Beer tap house. Pours almost clear dark golden orange with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty, woody, fruited, grainy, vinous, straw, and a slightly husky musty edge. Moderate sweetness, with medium bitterness and body. Average carbonation. Nice woody winey bittersweet finish with tannic notes. Interesting take on an English cask IPA.

Name doesn’t lie, beer is seriously coconut sweet, with mild bitterness and a slight tart edge. Medium body, very smooth, soft carbonation. Well done.
