Taster at the brewery in Columbia Falls, MT. Clear bronze color with a white head and great lacing. Strong ale aroma, even though this is a lager. Nice caramel flavor, but it's not as smooth as an amber lager should be. Looks great, but not smooth enough for my liking.

Taster at the brewery in Columbia Falls, MT. Pitch black pour with a beige head. Dark roasted malt aroma. Good dark roasted flavor with a little bit of a robust finish. Clean and smooth. The 6.8% ABV is pretty well hidden. Very good.

Taster at the brewery in Columbia Falls, MT. Super dark brown color with a small beige head. Good lacing. Very roasted and nutty aroma, like a brown ale. The flavor follows the nose: Dark roasted flavor with a little nutty finish. Very smooth and clean. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Great beer!

On tap at Backslope, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out medium roast, with some lactose, and gentle cocoa. Flavour is quite sweet, with lactose, medium roast, and some cocoa. Full-bodied, semi-sweet and robust, but not all that complex. Solid.

On tap at Backslope, pours a cloudy orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out earthy hops upfront, with gentle bourbon and biscuity malt. Flavour is bizarre, with muted, earthy hops, followed by bourbon and a touch of vanilla. Barrel aging IPAs is always a strange choice and this one preserves that questionability. Odd and lacking cohesion.

On tap at Backslope, pours a hazy brownish orange with a small beige head. Aroma is very chaotic, with lots of perfume, white wine barrels, and estery Belgian yeast. Flavour is likewise sweet and chaotic, with lots of estery notes, sweet candied sugar and barrels. Way too chaotic and uncoordinated.

On tap at Backslope, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out robust roasted malt upfront, with a touch of cocoa, and hearty oats. Flavour is rich and robust, with hearty oats, dry cocoa, and medium roast. Hearty and robust. Very good.
