Description
The brewery was founded in 1827 under the name Stralsundische Vereinsbrauerei. In 1899 a new multi-storey brewery building was erected at the current site of the brewery. After the reunification in 1991 the brewery was bought by the Nordmann Unternehmensgruppe. In 2010, we began forging a new path. Today we do what we do best: We brew a great variety of top-quality beers, drawing on Hanseatic brewing traditions. To reflect this change, the brewery was renamed Störtebeker Braumanufaktur ('craft brewery') in 2011.

Actually tastes much the same, which is the point but doesn't often succeed.

It's like that joke about sex in a canoe and American beer, except it's German. I expected a strong flavor suitable for a sailor, but this is made for resort grandmas.

This seems to be a very polarizing beer. Quite peaty, loads of Scotch of course. Bit more sweetness than bite. I like it.

dark chestnut colour with mahogany hue, a bit less than one inch of dense beige-ish ecru head; aroma of soy sauce, some fruity, malty-grainy, floral and slight seedy-nutty notes; taste has similar notes to the aroma with more intensive fruitiness (more specifically, peachy notes); good one
