Can (6/2/21) pour from Valley Beverage, Sherman Oaks. It's a hazy light brown-golden yellow with nice, lazy sparkle, finger-plus width white foamy head with excellent retention and nice soapy lacing. Aroma is strong tart/sweet wine-y grape (white wine and Concord grape) with some tropical fruit. Taste is strong grape (like a watered down Concord grape) with cracker/caramel malt and resin-y bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is light-to-medium bodied with thin, slightly oily texture, soft carbonation, no sign of alcohol, and crisp finish with lingering mild bitterness and yeast. Overall, I love me some Nelson but, given the hop mix, was really hoping to be blown away with a juice bomb but the complexity and balance just isn't there. I probably misclassified it--should just be a traditional DIPA--but, even still is thin for the style.
