Notes from 2015, shortly after Gino's brewing operation opened. Quite dark, in the dim restaurant lighting it looks black, with a bit of Red glinting at the bottom. Smell is not overly hoppy, and after the Brown Pale Ale, it's not as hoppy as a beer in this style might be. First taste has prickly bubbles delivering hop citrus and bitterness. Slightly extra alcohol that finally let's you drop your edge after the three beers on the tray before this.

2015 notes, from when Gino's East brewpub had just opened. More brown than the usual IPA, looks like a Newkie. Mild hoppy smell from definite English malt & hop bill. Hops do dominate the taste. Malt is definitely more in the Brown Ale area, dark and a bit treacly, with hints of a chocolate roast involved.

2015 notes. The usual banana and clove in the nose, plus a trace of bubble gum ester. Cloudy haze with a thin layer of white fizz. Taste again has a bit of toasty malt. The esters stay in the nose as I sip, with just a trace of Juicy Fruit on my palate.

2015 notes. Bright and clear in glass, with a familiar thin layer of foam. The smell carries a bit of spicy German hop without cloying sweetness of any adjunct lager. Taste brings out subtly toasted malts that let the pepper of Magnum and Saaz hops. Some sweetness as it settles on my tongue.

Keg at Gino’s East - Chicago. Pours clear yellowy gold with a foamy, white head. Tasty, simple lager. Some crispy cereal, flits of bitter hay, dry pale bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Decent balance in the finish, moderate sweet cereal and biscuits, faint bitter straw. Enjoyable.
