300ml on tap at Vodolaz in Saratov. You know something ain’t right when the brewery’s description says that their pilsner should ‘smell of fresh green apple’. Anyway, pours slightly hazy gold with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is apple, yeast, grassy-noble hop. Taste is medium dry, malt, generously hopped. Medium bitter finish. Medium bodied. Defective but still ok.

Appearance: Clouded deep amber with a two finger tall beige head. Aroma: Toast & caramel, coriander, anise, esters, dried fruits. Taste: Light to medium sweet. Toast & caramel, coriander, anise, esters, dried fruits, some hop. Light ending bitterness. Mouth feel: medium plus body, soft to average carbonation. Overall: Might be interesting. Not of great balance though.

Appearance: Cloudy yellow to orange with a huge white frothy head of good retention. Aroma and taste: Wheat bread, phenols, less banana. Light sweet, low bitterness. Mouth feel: Medium minus body, soft carbonation. Overall: Somawhat out of balance.
