Description
The brewery is located in the picturesque village of Kötschach-Mauthen, Gailtal, Carinthia and derives its name from the old celtic name of Mauthen. Wonderful freshly brewed beer is celebrated here, with its own source, the best raw materials and a lot of love for the product. The brewhouse is modern and state of the art, the beer is traditionally fermented in the open fermentation tank. We are Gailtal's first brewery and have continued the craft that was practiced in Mauthen in 1700. Since opening in 2007, the brewery has been continuously expanded and the range expanded. Far from the mass products of the corporations, artisanal beer is produced here.

Bottle, 0.33l. Aroma is grainy, grassy, caramelly and papery. Pours cloudy amber color with thin creamy off-white head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel, following is lightly toasted, grainy, grassy and slightly medicinal, mouthfeel is crisp, while finish is mild bitter. Light to medium body, thin texture and lively carbonation in palate. Not outstanding, but well palatable...

Bottle looks really good. Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Heavy yeasty-alcoholic aroma. Starts strong malty-yeasty, sweetish, intense banana notes, very yeasty. Well balanced but maybe a bit too much...

Bottle. Dark amber color. Wheat, banana, a hint of vinegar, caramel and dust in the aroma. Medium to full bodied. Banana sweets and wheat in the flavor. Dusty, vinegarry notes, without being acidic. Drinkable.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Dried red fruit and hints of licorice and rum in the aroma and flavor. Caramel. Sweet, vinous. Has thinned because of the oak aging. Oak, vanilla. A hint of whisky in the finish. Nice, but a bit unbalanced.
