Description
The brewery is located in the picturesque village of Kötschach-Mauthen, Gailtal, Carinthia and derives its name from the old celtic name of Mauthen. Wonderful freshly brewed beer is celebrated here, with its own source, the best raw materials and a lot of love for the product. The brewhouse is modern and state of the art, the beer is traditionally fermented in the open fermentation tank. We are Gailtal's first brewery and have continued the craft that was practiced in Mauthen in 1700. Since opening in 2007, the brewery has been continuously expanded and the range expanded. Far from the mass products of the corporations, artisanal beer is produced here.

0,1l on bottle at Craft Beer Festival Graz as "Loncium Festiv(Ale)" shared by Saeglopur, thanks. dark yellow clear color, small white head. smells of ginger, sourish, herbs, light funk, light grass notes. OK smell. medium body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes herbal, grassy, light grains, light ginger, a bit bready, light sweetness. taste a bit stale. finishes with herbal and ginger notes, rather neutral almost not bitterness. decent beer, taste is better than the smell, not sure where the funky notes on the smell come from. overall drinkable.

Smooth dry beginning. Quite dry for a Weizen, yeast but more clove, dry with nearly no sweetness, but soft. Dry malty yeasty aftertaste, moderate bitter, interesting but not a typical Hefeweizen, more a Wheat Ale.

330 ml bottle from Ammersin Centerstore.
Amber, hazy body, with a medium, creamy, off-white head.
Quite light aroma of bacon, spices, bread, sweet fruits and malts.
Taste is a bit less lighter, with bacon, honey, sweet bread, some fruits, subtle hops.
Medium, quite creamy mouthfeel, with a soft carbonation.
Finishes soft, moderate smokey, sweet, a bit bready, a bit hoppy.
Good. Very easy, with a quite moderate smokiness and nice sweet fruity and malty notes. Overall too light for my taste though, I would prefer more body.

Bottle from trade with Werckmeister, many thanks. Pours clear golden with quickly disappearing white head. Citrus aroma with some piney notes and a hint of cat piss (guess that’s the mosaic hops). Balanced taste with floral notes, grapefruit and pine. Balanced taste with just a slight bitter finish. Very enjoyable if I don’t smell.

Dark brown with ruby hue, few floaters, moderate strong beige head but very short lived. Aroma is bit toffee, dark fruits and a bit sour fruit, some nuts. Taste is moderate+ sweet caramel, toffee, some chocolate and nuts, bit fruits, no sourness from the nose, toasted finish. Low herbal bitterness. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, bit creamy.
