Sampled at the brewpub, pours a murky, burnt orange amber with some soft white head. Nose has toffee, malt, soap, some booze like brandy. Flavor has heavy tea and toffee, soap, orange pith, pine now. Finishes full bodied and bitter. In a style that's now consistently being overdone, this is refreshingly understated. 7 4 7 4 13

Sampled at the brewery, pours a clear dark gold, ring of white head. Nose has grass, malt, corn, soap. Flavor has malt, corn, grass, some soap. The Green Bullet imparts a little spiciness. Dry, crisp finish. Easy drinker with some complexity. 6 3 7 3 13

Sampled at the brewpub, pours a watery brown with some lacey, white head. Nose is earthy, mushrooms, malt, bark, toast. Flavor has that, malt, grains, some cocoa, light smoke, tree bark. Finishes dry. Drinkable. 7 4 7 3 12

Sampled at the brewpub, pours a clear ruby color, ring of head that's nearing pink. Nose has some lemon, some grape skins, blueberry. Flavor is better, some lemon, some white berry, a little acetyl, grass maybe. Rhubarb lurking. Finishes watery. Not sure what this is, but its not much of anything. 6 3 6 2 11

Medium gold body and okay foam, plenty of sweet sharp hops on the nose but nothing else. Flavour is oily hops, overbearing and sweet, with no malt character. As is often the case if you are not obsessed with hops you may be doomed in New Zealand.

Deep brown orange body and weak foam, huge sugary hops on the nose. Flavour is an odd mix of vegetable hops, sugar, and oily notes. Full enough on the mouth. Seems too heavy and overbearing, no finesse, like cabbage dumped in sugar.
