Deep and dark amber and copper coloured body with a thinnish, one to two centimetre tall off-white head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of citrus, grain, light malts, earth, rustic nuttiness and some caramelised sugars, but some of the deeper hop notes are noticeable, but not in any Californian sort of way. Light to Medium-bodied; Deep malty profile at first that shows some nuts and earthiness, but the crisper, floral, grassy and piney elements all noticeable from the hops. Aftertaste shows a dash of sweetness from the fruits, with a crisp and very floral, grassy and perfumey hop characteristic that has some deeper malt and grainy components that ends with a light sweetness from nuts, of all things. Overall, a fairly malty and grainy beer with some good hop aspects, but the California-side of things seems a bit far-fetched, as this really isn't like any IPA I've had from California, aside from perhaps at a brewpub. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from ABC Fine Wine & Spirits in Orlando (Lake Buena Vista, Store #04), Florida on 01-January-2021 for US$6,09 sampled a few minutes later in my hotel room here in Lake Buena Vista, Florida on 01-January-2021, New Year's Day.

Can at home. Finally trying these guys. Cool looking design on can. Pretty hued copper caramel with big head for style. Nose is some sweet caramel and leaf litter. Tastes of soft malts, caramel, rootbeer, earth. Finish is slightly sweet and dry. Lingering finish. Straightforward and good

An imperial stout with only 22 IBU? What is that. Black nitro pour also not entirely my thing. Has that obvious creamy nitro head. So despite the low hopping rate, this is very bitter. I think most of it is coming from some strong black malt. Strongly roasted black flavors and a lot of licorice. A ton of licorice, bitter and herbal similar to jagermeister mixed with imperial stout. Could not even finish the small flight pour.

Apparently not the same as the Killer Cali beer listed in the database, different spelling and ABV, etc. This was about the best of the 4 underwhelming beers in my flight. Lemon and pine strong in the nose. A bit of a lemon pledge and pine-sol thing going on here, which was not exactly pleasing to the nose. Clear gold color. Hop flavors similar to the nose, though well balanced with a dry clean bready malt. peppery and warming at finish.
