Bottle thanks to Cletus (who also sent me their Mountain Mac, which I quite enjoyed). Pours with no head over a clear, burnt golden body. Light alcohol legs. Aroma of apple sauce, light wine notes, tartness, smoked apple wood and lightly metallic. Taste is sweet up front with apple sauce and light astringent spice, followed by a slight tart citrus note finishing with lemon meringue. Tingly carbonation, sort of like some frowned upon Lost Abbey beers (i.e. perfectly acceptable carbonation for the style). I actually enjoyed the complexity of the Mountain Mac a touch more.

Bottle thanks to Cletus. A very different cider. Pours with a very small white head over a hazy golden with some alcohol legs on the side. Aroma is sweet with cinnamon, alcohol, must, citrus, baked apple and tannins. Taste is lightly spritzy up front with a bit of lemon, followed by sweet pie crust, then cinnamon bark, tannins, finishing with bitter apple skins and a whiff of tobacco. Interesting. Very light carbonation (less than 1 vol of CO2). Interesting and pretty good! Lots of residual sweetness for a carbonated true cider. I am wondering what sort of yeast they used to pull this off and leave so much residual sweetness.

Thank you jjpm74 for this experience! ;~D Very pretty blue champagne bottle. I feel guilty opening this alone. Possibly has the aroma of a strong Belgian or something really sweet. This brew has some bubbles rising in there but no head. Fusel~ness hits the olfactory immediately on the first taste. This is strong and wine like. The alcohol content is out front and knocking. You may want to think twice if you are planning to have more than 12 oz. This stuff is taste bud numbing. It is overpowering to both tongue and nose if thought of on a beer rating site. USA malt liquor brewers rejoice! Each swallow is alarming to the back of my throat. Barely any detectable carbonation. I never would consider this a drain pour, but I may put it back into the bottle and reset the plastic cork. I’m going to save this for a special occasion. This is the imperial of cider. Imperial stout and imperial IPA….now we have imperial cider. This stuff is hypnotizingly brutal. Those of you who love high alky percent better go try this. Coarse, very coarse; clear and coarse. I don’t think this should be rated as a beer, nor cider, way too strong. However, I also believe that imp stout and ipa is a difficult to enjoy brew! . This is the stepping stone from beer to hard liquor. This is Pennsylvania state store territory. You IPA and impy stout lovers will either hate or love this cider. Kicks yer guzzi.
