Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear gold with minimal head that dissipate quickly and completely. Aroma was full of sweet grains with a bread backing and a nice underlying light fruit note. Flavor was similar with a nice combination of sweet grains, cereal and bread notes backed by the slightest light fruit note.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a cloudy brown in the middle and gold on top with an off-white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma had light fruits with orange peel and juniper coming through backed by a sweet grain. Flavor was a bit sweeter with sweet grains and fruits coming through and a bit of citrus from the orange peel.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear deep orange gold with an off white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma was full of pumpkin and spices with a bit of an odd apple note. Flavor was similar with a creamy pumpkin note and lots o spices. The spices were a bit overwhelming. The beer did have a nice creaminess to it that made it feel like you were actually drinking pumpkin pie.

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear copper gold with a white head that dissipated to the edges and laced. Aroma was full of pine with a bit of sweet grain and an underlying harsh grapefruit and resin. Flavor was similar with pine in the beginning balanced by a growing sweet grain and a backing harsh grapefruit note. Didn’t really come together for me.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear red amber with a near white head that dissipated slowly to the edges and laced. Aroma had a light pine note accompanied by a slight citrus note but had quite a strong grain backing. Flavor was similar with a strong grain note with a backing pine note and just a hint of citrus. I wish the rye would have come through more.

Growler shared at the RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured a hazy gold with a thin white head that dissipated quickly to the edges. Aroma was sweet with grains and cereal and some underlying hops both grassy and piney. Flavor was similar and the grass hops were a bit more present and melded nicely with the sweet grains.

Re-rate 05/29/2011. On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. Aroma is quite earthy and nutty. Still lots of earthy and peanut flavors, but also picking up more cocoa and coffee. Enjoying this more than I did at last summer’s festival.

Original review: On tap at MBGSF 2010. Pours a hazy brown with a tan head. Aroma is light, mainly a dark fruit sensation. Flavor is very earthy, led by peanut butter. Clean finish. 7/3/7/3/15/3.5

On tap at the brewery. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma is somewhat fruity with pale malts. Flavor has lots of biscuity pale malts and fruit flavors, particularly strawberry and some hoppy citrus notes, somewhat sweet, with an herbal quality. Nice lacing. A nice take on a steam beer; I liked this more once I got farther into the glass.
