Description

Hah, was thinking I'd need to add it after trying it yesterday, but Rotin managed to squeeze in. Yay! :D Tap at The PUB, Prague 13. Blackish body, laaaasting, big, tan-beige head - looks impressive! Distinct chocolatey maltiness along with light chili in the aroma, pleasant! The taste... is actually quite okay, if not as well defined. Dry roasty, quite a bit roasty maltiness, mixing notes of chocolate and dry dog food, the roast continuing on in the bitter finish. Some light citric notes show up - unsure if from the hops or from the peppers, along with some nice smooth background to the slightly rough roast. The chili taste is not terribly distinct if it's not that, and there's but a mild, mild heat (well, for my level of tolerance), piquant at best. One of the better Volbas, that's for sure!

bottle from Globus Praha-Zličín. Pale straw-coloured yellow, tall white head. Light-bodied, shy but pleasant slightly malty base, lots of good Saaz hops tune in soon, resulting in a bitter-sweet character, more on the dry side. Very, very moreish.
