Buegelverschlußflasche (750ml):: Hazy, ruby-amber coloured, quite quickly vanishing loose tanned-yellowish head; moderate to solid nose of sweet dark malt, toasted malt, dried black berries, some woody traces as expected and chocolate, molecular traces of unknown hops underneath; solid sweet flavour, low bitterness at least detectable, full bodied, pretty soft; lingering woody and sweet-malty finish, fruity and vinous traces included. Pretty good...

On tap at FDDB 2017. Slightly hazy, dark brownish amber with a medium large, slightly creamy, stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of lots of caramel, chocolate, some coffee and some oak. Rather sweet, malty and moderately roasty taste of caramel, chocolate, coffee, some oak and a touch of dark ripe fruits, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly woody-dry and minimally smoky finish. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very tasty!

Bottle. Black with a medium sized head. Aroma is roasted malts and sugar. Taste is malts and pure sweetness. Chocolate and a little bit liquorice. Low hop profile. Reminds me of a german non-alcoholic Malzbier. Medium carbonation. Watery. Quite ok but too sweet for me.

Bottle. Reddish brown. Decent head. Aroma is malts, caramell, chestnuts and a little bit of that skunky, damp basement. Taste is nutty, malty, spicy and caramell. Good carbonation. Unfortunately it’s quite watery and bland. But the taste improves as it gets warmer and reminds me of a real süffig Altbier.

Bottle from Bergmann Kiosk, Dortmund. Dark amber coloured with a very small head. Aroma is barley all the way. Taste is malty, slighty fruity and butter. Hops stay in the background. Medium carbonation. Süffig. Ok but it’s just not my favourite style.

Bottle from Bergmann Kiosk, Dortmund. Looks, smells and tastes like a German Pils should. Grainy, grassy, bready. Good balance betwen malts and hops. Something to drink all night. Decent.

0.3 l on tap at ’Bergmann Kiosk’ as ’Spezial’. Clear, dark brownish amber with a thin, slightly creamy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of caramel, nuts and hints of chocolate. Slightly sweetish, malty and slightly roasty taste of caramel, toasted nuts, roasted bread, some chocolate and hints of tobacco, followed by a medium long, quite bitter, dry-roasty finish. Medium body, slightly creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Quite okay, not that aromatic, quite bitter in the end, but drinkable, of course.

0.3 l on tap at ’Bergmann Kiosk’. Clear, golden yellow with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, white head. Slightly grainy, quite grassy and a bit fruity aroma of grains, hay and some citrus. Slightly sweetish, grainy, rather grassy and a bit fruity-spicy taste of hay, grains, spicy hops and some citrus, followed by a medium long, quite dry-bitter, rather grassy-spicy finish. Medium body, smooth and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Classic Pils with lots of character, not bad!

(swing top bottle, 75cl) Hazy, amber to copper colour with a firm medium-sized and slightly tanned foamy head. Herbal-swpicy and distinctively resiny hoppy aroma with biscuity malt, notes of caramel and a subtle fruity touch in the background. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Balanced bready and bisdcuity cara-malty taste with a good dash of herbal, resiny and slightly grassy hops as counterpart; lingering sweet-bitter finish with hints of bread and caramel in the aftertaste. Rounded more-ish brew with “old world” hops. 08.IX.15
