Bottle: Deep golden to light amber coloured, rather quickly diminishing off-white head; sweet-malty nose with traces of vegetables and metal; sweetish-bitter flavour, soft MF, light to medium bodied; slightly lingering sweet (dark-)malty and bitter finish. O.K., a real miner’s brew, a potent thirst-quencher, not very aromatic........

(33cl bottle, bought in Dortmund) Clear, amber colour with a foamy, slightly off-white medium-sized head. Sweet and moderately toasted aroma with nutty, fruity malt, light notes of caramel and a light herbal hoppy blend Some metallic notes fade quickly. Initially sweet and slightly toasty malty taste, light notes of caramel; light to medium bodied with a medium, almost crispy carbonated mouthfeel; moderately dry and bitter finish with a subtle fruity note and traces of metal. I have no counter-sample available right now, but this one tastes top-fermented and reminds me much of Vormanns Alt. DBB - Dortmunder Bergmann-Bier is the recreation of an old brand of a traditional brewery, that already closed in 1972, known for providing the local working class in the (former) industrial city of Dortmund with rather cheap and raw beer. When I think of a coal miner (Bergmann) in Dortmund I think of a pale Export lager beer. I fear the concept works for Hagen-Dahl but not for Dortmund and possibly can ruin Dr. Raphael, the contractor.
