Description
Founded in 2018, The Blunt Chisel Brewery is a 2.5bbl nano brewery based in the Hamlet of Blairadam. The brewery is housed in the old sawmill for the Blairadam estate latterly to become a woodworking workshop. We use Blairadam spring water and locally grown and malted barley from Crafty Maltsters to produce interesting yet accessible craft beers. All brewing and bottling is carried out in house by hand and our beer contains no finings so is Vegan friendly too. We mainly bottle our beer but also keg and cask to order so if you are a pub or a thirsty individual please get in touch.

Bottle from Grainstore. It pours a handsome opaque black with a sturdy light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, earthy, charred, umami, liquorice, bitter chocolate, espresso coffee, spice, hint of dark fruit, plum and date. The taste is firmly dry, rich roasted malt, charred, umami, liquorice, bitter - sweet character, freshly ground coffee, bitter dark chocolate, light wood tannin and toasted nut with a roasty, drying finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Flavourful, especially at this kind of abv. Rounded and satisfying.

Bottle from Left Field Beer. Sweet smoke over dark berries and coffee. Pours a light brown but in the glass it appears darker. Creamy light beige head. Initial vague smokey sweetness. Charcoal and black coffee bitterness then kicks in. Sour berry edge. Bitter through to the finish but maintains a smokiness. Gains bitterness as I drink however also develops smooth vanilla. Medium bodied. Creamy if in the thin side. Average carbonation. Long astringent finish. Nice enough.
