(Kiev 2016) 330 ml. bottle at Beer Dream. BBF 01.03.2017. Great label (for me it is a bit campy 50s Horror movie styled), this is also the strongest Ukrainian beer that I tried during my visit. Dark red amber, fizzy, bubbles rising and no head. Nose is thick dark fruit syrup with a sour edge to it, molasses. Taste is overripe dark fruit, fizzy, rotting fruit alcoholic, turned sour, rubbing alcohol, fruity mess, thin, fizzy, harsh big rotting fruit, whole has turned sour akin to spoiled fruit & spoiled grapes. Really messy & off-tasting take on an Quadrupel. I suspect this bottle being stored badly but still. Raw, still not utterly undrinkable.

(Kiev 2016) 330 ml. bottle consumed. Purchased @ Wooly Hops. 20 % Rye. Chinook & Cascade. BBF 01.10.16. Pours a murky dark brown kvass with little tanned head. Nose is weird oily hop, rye bread & kvass, fermenting bread, tad watery & quite messy. Taste is big caramel, bread, watery rye, raisin, sugar, no real hop, kvass, Christmas spices, caramel, low coca-cola, sweetness, brown sugar. Bit watery, bread & kvass bready. I cannot call this an IPA, I found appeal in its sweet kvass, bread & raisin qualities, a bit too messy & tad to watery to fully love for me but I did enjoy it even if it is insanely far removed from intended style in my opinion.

(Kiev 2016) 330 ml. bottle sampled. Purchased @ Wooly Hops. My bottle stated 7.8 % ABV, 23 IBU no BBF. At least they acknowledge the ridiculousness of higher ABV saisons but who knows what a saison is even these days? Deep hazy apricot orange with no head. Nose is overly thick spoiled yeast, apricot, way too much bad plaster BE yeast. Taste is sweet banana, insanely sweet, overly so with soap & banana, sugar, apricot, extremely sweet candy, hard to drink, really cloying. Body is cloying banana & sugar. Way too much extreme sweetness in a cheap candy fashion & some BE-yeast on top, a bit hard to stomach, I can imagine that there are fans.

(Kiev 2016) AMBER LABEL! 330 ml. split by 2. BBF 01.07.2016. Purchased @ Wooly Hops. Dark murky amber with some tanned bubbles. Nose is big murky & moldy yeast, old cheesy hops, overripe dark fruits & more mold. Taste is old murky yeast, dirty mold, moldy spoiled fruit, heavy yeast. Thick moldy yeast. Needless to say, yeast dominates everything, ruins it, not the worst, this is too much.

(Kiev 2016) 330 ml. split by 2. Purchased @ Wooly Hops. Dark orange, creamy off-white head. Nose is intensely heavy orange peel, citrus peel in a very lemonade-forward fashion, low coriander, too lemonade-like for me, not getting any hops in the nose. Body & taste are too fizzy for me, low moldy yeast & very lemonade-heavy citrus qualities, overly yeast & lemonade-like, some moldy finish, faint spices; too yeasty, strong-lemonade qualities is odd but somewhat pleasant as such it isn’t entirely bad, quite strange all the same.

(Kiev 2016) Sampled draft @ Wooly Hops. Dark amber, creamy tanned head. Nose is massive cheesy hops, some pine resin & low grain. Taste is oily hop tea, tea leaves, cheesy hops, hops seem to be cheese due to the age or at least this one felt like that, meaning the beer is fresh but I think that they used old hops, hop tea oil quality of this one is nice but the hops are a touch too cheese & touch too less pine. Hop tea body. Still virtually all supposedly hoppy Ukrainian beers in general lacked all hop character, this one has lots of it. I can see why the waiter was excited about this beer, one of the finest Ukrainian beers I tried, despite not being marked as an IPA, closes i saw a beer approach an American style IPA in taste while I was there.

Reddish-brown color, creamy foam. Aroma: very sweet, much sugary, caramel, dried fruits, spices, dark malts. Taste: malty, toffee, black currant, berry jam, caramel and molasses.
