Description
Scotland has a deeply fascinating history when it comes to brewing and we wanted to pay homage to these roots when creating our name. Calton Hill Brewery in Edinburgh was the first brewery in Britain to create lager way back in 1835. The small suburb that the brewery called it’s home earned the name Cauld Toon as it sat directly in the in the cold shadow of Arthur’s Seat. Over time, this colloquially became Cal-ton. Carlton Hill could therefore be known as Cold Town Hill, and suddenly our name was born.

Can from lightly hazy golden - blonde with the a small, frothy white head. The aroma is hearty malt, doughy, floury bread, biscuit, touch of spice, grapefruit and some marmalade sandwiches. The taste is crisp, dry, snappy, pity, zesty, grapefruit, pomelo, bitter peel, floury bread, biscuit and just a touch of alcohol. Average body and fine, prickly carbonation. Doesn't exactly set my world on fire, but I didn't have a problem getting through the can. Just a bit lacklustre.

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from Beers of Europe and drunk at home. Light amber, clear with a small swirl of off-white head. Muted doughy aroma, some ripe citrus. Sweet taste, quite resinous, with bitter hoppy qualities closer to the finish. Slightly watery body and medium carbonation. It’s a decent Vienna.
