Description
Since 1663 the brewing trade has remained in direct family hands. The fathers always passed the art of brewing beer on to their sons. And that's still the case today! All the Georgs, Johanns and Leonhards brewed their beer here in Pahres with fresh water from the same brewery's own well. In the past also with self-grown Aischgründer hops.

The Hofmann brewery has grown to its present size under the leadership of Georg Hofmann and delivers its beer within a radius of up to 60 km from the brewery chimney. Since 1990 responsibility has been in the hands of Georg Hofmann.

(bottle) Clear, deep golden colour with a short and slightly off-white foamy head. Caramel-malty and bready aroma with herbal hops shining through. Moderately sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a present carbonation. Cara-malty and bready taste with a chalky touch and shy herbal notes; sweet-bitter malt-accented finish with herbal hops. Not a great but likeable Festbier. 27.XII.10

Bottle: Golden to deep golden, small to medium-sized fluffy white head with a little lace; light to moderate sweetish-grainy nose, molecular traces of toasted malt underneath; light to moderate sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied, soft; slightly lingering sweet malty and bitter finish. Quite robust, tasty Märzen......

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden beer with a finger-thick white head. Malty nose with some fruity, hoppy scents. Sweet initial flavor, but it dries up nicely, a pity the flavor is so uninteresting. Decent bitterness showing up towards the end. Mostly grainy flavor though. It wouldn’t be a problem downing a few of these, but I don’t feel an urge to do so. 100814
