Description
Since 1663 the brewing trade has remained in direct family hands. The fathers always passed the art of brewing beer on to their sons. And that's still the case today! All the Georgs, Johanns and Leonhards brewed their beer here in Pahres with fresh water from the same brewery's own well. In the past also with self-grown Aischgründer hops.

The Hofmann brewery has grown to its present size under the leadership of Georg Hofmann and delivers its beer within a radius of up to 60 km from the brewery chimney. Since 1990 responsibility has been in the hands of Georg Hofmann.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a big and bubbling foamy white head. Herbal and slightly spicy hoppy aroma with sweet and slightly doughy malt and shy traces of barnyard. Sweet and minimal bitter, slightly grainy (cara-)malty taste with notes of honey; light to medium bodied, crispy on the tongue; sweet-bitter finish with shy herbal hops. Pleasant, easy-going Lager (06.VI.09).

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Starts mild, modest hoppy. The finish is still mild, a little bit spicy, woody. Nice!

Bottled. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet with flowery hoppy notes, and so is the flavor, leading to a dry and nicely bitter end.

Bottled - comes as Hofmann Dunkel. An amber beer with a thick light brown head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel, as well as light hoppy notes. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and the body is a bit thin. A bit boring.

(Bottle 50 cl) In my version simply called "Hofmann Dunkel". Clear, dark amber golden with a creamy, beige head leaving some lacework. Soft aroma of lightly roasted malt. Medium body with pleasant flavours of lightly sweet, roasted malt. Vague, caramelish accents. Dry - but not overly bitter - finish. 040307
