About
The tradition of brewing beer in the abbey buildings of the nunnery Göss was revived when in 1860 the brewer and entrepreneur Max Kober acquired parts of the monastery and reactivated the brewery. This important year for Gösser is still noted on the labels today. With the founding of an AG in 1893, Max Kober laid the foundation stone for the development into one of the most important breweries in Austria.

In 1977 Gösser joined the Steirerbrau group, which merged into rivalling Brau-Beteiligungs-AG (BBAG) in 1991. From 1993 both companies operated under Brau Union Austria. In 2003, Gösser with Brau Union was taken over by Heineken.

Bottle picked up from Rewe, Garching, and consumed at home Tuesday 18th August 2020 after a pleasant walk this evening along the railway track in the direction of Nandlstadt. Pours light gold with a mid-sized white head, thin, watery, and really lacking in all areas, not much bitterness, little character, very pedestrian. Some light maltiness and a little watered down fruity edge, it's ok but even ok is simply elevating the status of a very bland beer.

50 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Trinkgut, Kleve. Light hazy light yellow with a big dense white head. Malty aroma with some yeasty fruitiness. Taste is moderately sweet with a lowbitter finish. Nice helles.

Barva zlatava, lehce zakalena. Pena husta neprilis trvanliva. Vune sladova obilna. Chut sladove horka - stredne horke, hutnejsi dojezd. Hodne bublinek. Prijemne tezsi plne pivo. Z rakouskych piv zatim favorit. Druhy taste: ve vuni kvasnice. V chuti trocha citrusu. Trochu to pripomina rakouske suche lagery napr. Stiegl. Ale je to vyrazne plnejsi, bohatsi chut.

500ml bottle. Cloudy, yellow-ish, golden colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, snow-white head. Husky malty, slightly yeasty fruity aroma, hints of apricot, protein, yeast dough, a minimally muggy touch of wet straw. Taste is minimally sweet husky malty, slightly yeasty fruity, doughy yeasty and dry, grassy hoppy, hints of apricot, a touch of green and yellow apple, a minimally strawy touch. Watery texture with a thicker purée strand or nucleus, smooth and soft palate, slightly prickly carbonation. Some Zwickel borrowings, profits from the non-filtrated leftovers - not bad.

50cl bottle. A hazy golden beer with a white head. Aroma of clove, spicy wheat malt, yeast. Taste of clove, spices, wheat, moderate bitterness. Okay!
