Bottle at the Schwalbennest in Graz. 5.3% Poured a golden body with lively carbonation. Small white head that went away fast. Nice light herbal pilsner nose. Nice bready, yeasty taste ending on a weird dull bitter note that might come from the hemp, which also leaves a herbal note. Interesting, not bad.

22/01 0.5 l bottle at Café Schwalbennest in Graz. It poured hazy golden body with small head. Nice biscuity and earthy aroma, with a strange note of cucumber or fresh green pepper. Slightly sweet flavor, also biscuity & earthy, reminded me instantly of Blue Max I had more than three years ago just few streets away in cozy Dombrau. Pleasant peachy as well. Had medium body fine long slightly sweet finish. Simple, yet pleasant Helles.

Bottled 500ml. -Brown coloured, medium sized pale beige head, weak malty coffee nose. Vinous coffee, caramel and brown sugar with discreet touch of hops in the finish. Unfortunately quite watery again. Not (so) good Schwarzbier.

Bottled 500ml. -Cloudy yellow/orange coloured (more weizen than bock), small white head, yeasty and mild peppery nose. Acidic yeasty, moderate malty and slight fruity with mild notes of alcohol in the finish. Not bad, but had better bottles of this style.

Unexpected rate, saw someone drinking it at the crowded but cute Café Schwalbennest in Graz. Poured a hazy golden body with a small, persistent white head. Lively carbonation. Yeasty nose, some carrot, meh. Light grainy taste, some carrot again, generally soft and that mouthfeel saves it from being a bad beer. Likable in a way, but not too much for me.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado who got it at the microbrewery (thanks!) Poured a murky dark brown body, as "dark" as their "Stout Original" (funny, because I wrote the bit in the rating of that one that it looks like a Schwarzbier without seeing this one). Off white thick head that wet away relatively slowly. Weak malty nose. Humm. Weak watery taste with light coffee notes (though not as pronounced as the Herzog Dunkles I’ve had earlier that day). Slightly sourish and it actually helps the drinkablity and goes into the aftertaste. This actually reminded me a little in taste of an (unspectacular) Irish stout. A little. The disappointment of the day I guess.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with ogivlado who got it at the microbrewery (thanks!) Poured a nice misty full yellow body with a white head. Sweet fruity malty nose with some cabbage and yeast. Yeasty taste, somewhat acidic, ok maltiness, bit crackery, light honey. Actually nice until the acidity struck.

Bottled 500ml. -Muddy brown coloured, small to medium sized off-white head, coffee nose. Slight roasted malt, chicory and weak coffee taste with moderate carbonation. Simple and drinkable but pretty average beer.

Bottled 500ml. -Slight hazy golden coloured, medium sized white head that went away slowly, malty/yeasty nose. Malty, mild peppery hops and yeasty with low bitterness. Dry finish. Boring one.

Bottle that ogivlado got from the brewery and shared with me (thanks!) Poured a brown body tinged with amber, with a small white head... definitely doesn’t look like a stout. Dry chocolate and coffee nose.... more like it! Chicory/coffee taste, nothing else, nice but one dimensional. A stout? No, doesn’t taste like it, would’ve pinned it down like a lighter coloured schwarzbier. Not a bad beer though!
