Sweet malt dominates this heller bock, slightly hazy golden with creamy off white head. Slightly musty aroma, sourdough, bubblegum. Taste is sweet malt with some sourness on the tail end. Mouthfeel is heavy but slick. Still good, although I think this sample was nearing the end of its shelf life.

Bottle from Kalea Bierkalender. Deep amber, hazy body with medium, frothy, white head, that won’t last very long and leaves some lacing. Aroma of citrus, honey, malt, grass, flowers. Taste of citrus, candy, honey, grass, herbs. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate bitter/sweet citric finish. Not bad, but a bit weird, with the malt and the aroma hops not very well balanced, almost no hop bite and a bit too much sweetness instead. You get a hint that this traditional brewery is new to beer styles like this.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average to huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Slightly grainy, malt-spicy aroma, slightly grassy, minimally floral hoppy overtones, a lemon dash. Taste is monotonous pale malty, cautiously grassy hoppy; light, slightly watery, very soft palate.

Rating from 2010: Der Antrunk ist mild-süßlich. Schade! --> 6/6/5/5

330ml bottle. Cloudy reddish amber colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Piney hop aroma, cautious citrusy fruity hints of peach, passion fruit, pineapple. Taste is dry hoppy, minimally tart, herbal, earthy, wooden. Somehow the delicate fruity flavours don’t find their way into the taste; maybe they’re gobbled by an engrossing malt basis that doesn’t deliver the desirable caramel malty support. Far from perfect, but already on a good way.

330ml bottle [as Weißbier Bock]. Hazy yellowish pale golden colour with huge, frothy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, white head. Fruity aroma has an intense banana note, a touch of peach, minimally spicy yeasty overtones. Taste is minimally sweet wheat malty accompanied by a tart note, fruity hints of pear and green apple, slightly phenolic; dry, minimally herbal finish with hints of green fruit parings and minimally spicy, yeasty overtones; relatively light bodied, almost a bit watery. Taste can’t fulfill the expectations aroused by the nose.

Bottled. An unclear yellow beer with a white head. The aroma has notes of wheat and bread. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, wheat, and lemons, leading to a dry fnish.
