Description
Urban Chestnut Brewing Company, with three locations in St. Louis, is an unconventional-minded yet tradition-oriented brewer of craft beer. We like to call our unique brewing philosophy Beer Divergency - a 'new world meets old world' brewing approach wherein UCBC contributes to the 'revolution' of craft beer with artisanal creations of modern American beers, and pays 'reverence' to the heritage of beer with classically-crafted offerings of timeless European beer styles.

Pour is a hazy gold with a average white head. Aroma is a little English earthy malt and not much else. Flavor is a little better. The maris otter gives this a fresh baked bread and with a little honeysuckle toward the end. Hops are not noticeable. This style is really not for me, the beer is not bad it just does nothing to make we want another. I’m glad for the American hop bombs of today.

Bottle @ home, via the rot box, thanks to jcnielsen for sending a while back. Pours a hazy, dark orangish brown appearance with a brown head. Spicy oak, vanilla, heavy coconut, caramel, and spices in the nose. Barrel forward flavor. A bit heavy on the booze. High sweetness and moderate sweetness. Lots of coconut and brown sugar in the flavor. Finishes a little boozy. Solid, chill beer.

16.9 oz bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Martin City, Missouri. The label states that the bottled date is printed on the neck of the bottle, though I was unable to see a date. The pour is a hazed orange golden with a well formed two inch off white head. The aroma is tropical fruit citrus, mango, pineapple, and some bready malt. Fresh and clean nose. The taste is the tropical citrus fruits up front, bright and clean, layered nicely on top of the clean cracker bread malt backbone. The flavors play together nicely. The palate is medium bodied, natural carbonation and a clean finish. The 8.1% is masked beautifully in this beer - it avoids the lingering sweet trap that so many DIPAs fall into. Very tasty.

Big thanks to Gerhard for providing the bottle for our tasting. Huge foamy white head to an unclear amber coloured body. Spotty lacing. Aroma of bitter fruitiness, hints of lemon and peach. Malt-fruity flavours, bread, earth, nuts and citrus. Smooth on the swallow. Mostly hidden alcohol. Well bodied (Grand tasting at the balcony, Fässla, Bamberg 12.10.2014).

bottle from bierpost. Golden colour with a dense white head and a lovely hoppy aroma. Full-bodied, intensive malt flavours with a decent sweetness supporting the aromatic hops and the pleasant bitterness. Bitter-sweet, packed with fruity hops. Delicious.

bottle from bierpost. Amber-golden with a creamy off-white head and a good hop aroma. Medium-bodied, malty base with grassy-citrusy hops. Not as packed with tropcial fruit as typical IPAs this one comes with German hops, which also deliver a good show here. All in all, a very enjoyable beer.
